Media planning services for life sciences and healthcare

Our life sciences and healthcare media planning team has fierce negotiating skills, and can manage your media budget wisely!

We plan, schedule and buy B2B media for a number of different clients across the scientific and healthcare sectors, and are able to nail down excellent rates as a result. Because we’ve been doing this for a long time, we can recommend the places – online and in print – where your target audiences hang out. These are often highly niche, and may not have enormous numbers of visitors. But they will be quality readers that are interested in engaging with your brand, which is crucial. At kdm, we choose quality over quantity, every time.

Our approach step by step

1. Listen: what are your objectives?

It all starts with understanding your goals, your audience, and your budget. We take the time to learn where you’re trying to make an impact, and what success looks like to you – whether that’s improving brand awareness, generating leads, successfully launching a new product, increasing event attendance, or all of the above.

2. Think: match your goals with the best channels and timings

We draw on our proprietary life sciences and healthcare media database – plus insight tools like Agility – to build a smart media mix that balances reach, relevance and return. Niche journals? Specialist industry portals? We know them, and our years of experience mean that we know what works.
We also negotiate with platforms to maximise value, which often means that we create opportunities to place bylined editorial content as well as ads.

3. Do: and end-to-end service. No, really.

We handle all aspects of media planning, booking and buying – including negotiating better deals on high value placements, using our healthcare publishing contacts to secure bylined editorial placements and additional ads, and ensuring ad specs and copy deadlines are all met without a hitch

4. Review: track coverage and optimise future placements

We measure media performance and report back clearly. From impressions and CTRs to lead quality and ROI, we show what’s working and where to optimise – helping you make even smarter decisions next time.

Our life science media services include:

Do you help with content creation for media placements?2025-08-14T12:50:42+01:00

Yes, our scientific writing team can create new content, or adapt existing content to fulfil your media placements. And if you’re looking for a creative ad campaign, Matt’s team of designers will create stand-out work that gets results. Sometimes, fulfilment is more complex, and are equally happy organising a webinar in conjunction with a third party provider, or writing and designing a print supplement to go out with a peer-reviewed journal.

What about invoicing?2025-08-14T12:50:25+01:00

As an agency, if the platforms we are working with invoice us on your behalf, we simply take the agency fee (typically 10-15 %). This then covers the time it takes to plan and fulfil your schedule. If you want the platforms to invoice you directly, we will agree a media planning, booking and fulfilment fee with you in advance.

We already book some media directly. Is that OK?2025-08-14T12:50:08+01:00

Absolutely, we often collaborate with internal teams (or even other external agencies) to support campaign planning, negotiation and fulfilment.

Do you only plan media in the life sciences and healthcare sectors?2025-08-14T12:49:50+01:00

No. We also support adjacent sectors – such as food and beverage, environmental and telecoms – when they intersect with life sciences and healthcare.
